New Book, “Understanding a Wager,” Gives Readers Everything they Need to Know about Gambling, Bankroll Management, and Making a Profit

New Book, “Understanding a Wager,” Gives Readers Everything they Need to Know about Gambling, Bankroll Management, and Making a Profit

Engaging new book: “Understanding a Wager” by Ramy Christopher Tadros

(PRWEB) February 12, 2011

In a world full of gambles, “Understanding a Wager” is important. Playing bad gambles with negative expectation will lead to gambler’s ruin in the long term. Whereas good gambles with positive expectation are hard to find. Ramy Christopher Tadros, the author of a new book called “Understanding a Wager”, gives readers everything they need to know about gambling, bankroll management, and how to make a profit.

Tadros explores three main questions throughout his book: how to calculate odds and expected returns on various gambles; whether a specific wager will result in a long-term profit; and how to manage a bankroll and avoid gambler’s ruin.

His approach is simple, but powerful. Using basic mathematics and the scientific method, he explains expectation, the Kelly formula, probability theory, the Pareto principle, randomness and Poisson clumping, and how these insights may reduce gambling losses and improve returns.

The writing is engaging, the concepts are easy to grasp, and the knowledge is practical and valuable.

Take this book’s advice: understand a wager, before risking your money.

Praise for “Understanding a Wager”:

“’Understanding a Wager’ provides a persuasive summary of the mathematical basis for wagers. It thoroughly discusses statistical concepts such as expected value, zero-sum games, Pareto efficiency, probability over a series of multiple trials . . . randomness, Poisson clumping, regression toward the mean, gambling fallacies, gambler’s ruin and the Kelly criterion.”

—Minimax Mathematical and Statistical Consulting, LLC, the United States

“’Understanding a Wager’ sets out the basic mathematical guidelines that will enable players to determine their long-term chances of winning, and to reduce, as much as possible, their losses . . . In doing so, it examines issues such as probability theory, randomness and bankroll management, as well as differentiating ‘good’ bets from ‘bad’ bets on the basis of fairly simple mathematical formulae . . . Ramy Christopher Tadros has done an excellent job of making mathematical and statistical information very accessible to the ordinary reader.”

Bingo Games ? Know About Bingo Rules and Play to Win Convincingly

Know About Bingo Games – The Basics

Bingo is a game which is played in halls/rooms, either offline or online. Payouts, Bingo rules and playing-variations are not the same in all places. They vary. There are mainly two types of online Bingo games available to Bingo aficionados, 75-balls Bingo and 90-balls Bingo. In case of 75-balls Bingo, a player buys a Bingo card that comprises of 5 x 5 grids and the word B-I-N-G-O is written over the card. A player has to draw numbers like 0-68 or B-2 at random. 75-ball bingo is considered as the North American version of Bingo, where the square at the centre is marked as free space. However, another variation of Bingo is called 90-ball Bingo, where 9×3 cards are used (3 rows and 9 columns). 90-ball Bingo is usually played at UK, Australia, parts of Europe and South America. You can find both types of Bingo games at the online Bingo version. A player attains a Bingo pattern only when a certain line of numbers is available to him/her in horizontal, vertical or diagonal row.

Bingo is an easy game to play and it has been historically observed that most of its players are women. However, with increased popularity of online Bingo games, more and more men are starting to play this game. Online gaming sites, catering to the Bingo audience, has immensely popularised the game.

Know the Bingo Rules and Play the Game

Though the game is not a tough one, still a clear understanding of Bingo and knowledge of the associated rules help a player to start and play the games properly. For simplicity, we have considered only 75-ball Bingo card to explain the Bingo rules, so that you can play the Bingo games more convincingly. Do you want to play Bingo? If yes, please go through the rules given below:

Bingo Games Rule 1: Card Layout

In a 75-ball Bingo card, you will get 5 x 5 grids. In each square you will find a number except the one present at the middle of the card. This ‘centre square’ is known as “free space”. As a player you can automatically mark this ‘free space’ as complete.

Bingo Games Rule 2: Columns

In this 5 x 5 format, letters comprising the word B-I-N-G-O are written at the top of every column.

a)      The squares present in the very first column, on the top of which letter ‘B’ is marked, can consist of any number, right from 1 to 15.

b)      The squares present in the second column, on the top of which letter ‘I’ is marked, can consist of any number, right from 16 to 30.

c)       The squares present in the third column, on the top of which letter ‘N’ is marked, can consist of any of number, right from 31 to 45.

d)      The squares present in the fourth column, on the top of which letter ‘G’ is marked, can consist of any number, right from 46 to 60.

e)      The squares present in the fifth column, on the top of which letter ‘O’ is marked, can consist of any number, right from 61 to 75.

The space at the middle of this grid is left blank, which is called as ‘free space’.

Bingo Games Rule 3: Calling

A ‘Caller’ is like the ‘Dealer’ of a casino game. Caller draws and calls numbers randomly. He/she will call columns and numbers simultaneously. If the caller calls B12 then the player has to look at his/her card and see whether he/she has the number 12 in the column ‘B’. If that number is present in the player’s card then he/she has to mark it as present.

Bingo Games Rule 4: Objective

The objective of a player should be to fill up his/her own card in accordance with the rule of the house. Generally, this means that the player has to get a certain line of numbers (in column, row, or diagonal). In some cases, filling up all the squares of the Bingo card also becomes the objective of the game.

Bingo Games Rule 5: Claim Prize

If the objective of Bingo game, mentioned in the last point, is fulfilled then the player should yell ‘Bingo’ so that the house/room can know that you have completed your card and you are yelling to claim your prize. It may also happen that two players have achieved their objective simultaneously. In such a case, both of them will share the prize.

This is an overall summary of the rules of Bingo games.

Crap2Congress.com Educates About the Constitution, Lets Americans Send Message to Congress

Crap2Congress.com Educates About the Constitution, Lets Americans Send Message to Congress

Saint Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 15, 2010

Fed up with seeing the United States veer further and further away from its founding principles, a group of concerned Americans has launched a campaign to remind citizens … and Congress … what made the country strong.

The privately-funded group has launched a website, http://www.Crap2Congress.com, to educate and inform Americans about the Constitution and their representatives they voted to uphold its principles. Not affiliated with any political party, group members consider themselves Constitutionalists, their name for believers in the U.S. Constitution.

The group promotes three basic concepts in supporting its campaign:

    Limited government
Limited terms in office for politicians
    Limited federal spending

The website contains pages of facts and figures about members of Congress, including their voting record and the size of their staff payroll. The staff payroll, for example, has swelled significantly in recent decades. Spokesman Martin Branch calls this, “Evidence that members of Congress need a lesson in budgetary responsibility for their own offices. “

The site also allows visitors to express their feelings by sending their lawmakers two items: 1) A letter expressing their discontent; and 2) A plastic, non-toxic replica of a small pile of excrement. “Our goal is for Congress to hear the frustrations of the American people when their own load begins to pile up on their desks in Washington,” Branch explained.

For more information, visit http://www.Crap2Congress.com, to learn about how the U.S. was built and how citizens can let their voices be heard from coast to coast.

New, Web-based RFID Roulette Game Educates Public About RFID’s Diverse Uses

New, Web-based RFID Roulette Game Educates Public About RFID’s Diverse Uses

Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) July 16, 2008

RFID Revolution, an RFID education and market strategy consulting firm, has introduced RFID Roulette, a lively, Internet-based game designed to help people learn about the diverse uses of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. Featured on RFID Revolution’s website, http://www.rfidrevolution.com, RFID Roulette challenges the player to distinguish a fake RFID application–one that does not presently exist–from a real one. There is no charge to play.

“New applications in the consumer, business, health care, and government spheres are being introduced every day,” said Leslie Downey, Principal at RFID Revolution. “Some of these increase safety, like tracking the location of miners 450 meters underground; others increase efficiency in manufacturing or moving goods; and others, like tracking golf balls, free players to spend more time swinging and less time in the weeds. With the market changing so fast, our firm’s challenge is that some imaginary applications today become real tomorrow. We welcome feedback from players, and invite them to submit new questions and graphics that can be included in a new release of the game.”

Earlier this year, RFID Revolution commercialized an interactive, Internet-based training tool, RFID Essentials, to help professionals in end-user companies develop comprehensive RFID working knowledge quickly and economically. In hours, from anywhere, project team members can acquire the ability and readiness to advance their organization’s RFID initiatives. Developed in collaboration with three top industry experts, RFID Essentials is hands on and visual, with an abundance of simulated applications in which users practice what they’re learning. Technology concepts are illustrated in imaginative ways that help people remember.

“We believe the best learning takes place when the learner is actively participating,” said Downey. Studies have shown that a well designed, highly interactive e-learning course produces more rapid absorption and longer retention of basic information than classroom training. “Our goal in creating RFID Essentials was to prove out that promise. I’m pleased that our subscribers are telling us this is a rich, rewarding experience with fast payback.”

RFID Essentials is available to individual subscribers and organizations with multiple users. Individuals may subscribe to the entire, eight-hour course or any of its nine modules.

Supplementing the instruction-related exercises and quiz questions in RFID Essentials are various “Fake or Real” application questions similar to those in the RFID Roulette game. “RFID Essentials and RFID Roulette demonstrate that learning can be lively and even fun,” said Dr. Dan Dobkin, primary contributor to and narrator of both resources. “In fact, people learn the most when they’re so engrossed they don’t even know they’re learning! That’s why we’ve made RFID Essentials and RFID Roulette simultaneously educational and entertaining.”

About RFID Revolution:

Based in the Washington, D.C. area, RFID Revolution, LLC provides radio frequency identification (RFID) education and market strategy consulting services. Its interactive, Internet-based learning tool, RFID Essentials, provides professionals in end-user companies with comprehensive RFID working knowledge quickly and economically, so they can advance their organization’s RFID initiative and speed ROI.

The firm’s market strategy consultants help companies with emerging RFID solutions drive revenue growth by focusing on real needs in the marketplace with real money behind them. They also provide market research and briefing services to associations, government agencies, and other organizations seeking to better understand the radio frequency identification marketplace.

RFID Revolution is proud Co-Founder and Administrator of the RFID Excellence in Business Awards at RFID World 2007, an industry first in North America. It will again co-sponsor and administer this event at RFID World 2008.

FOLIOfn Launches “Low Volatility” Folios: About Half the Volatility of the S&P 500, but With Strategic Exposure to Equities

FOLIOfn Launches “Low Volatility” Folios: About Half the Volatility of the S&P 500, but With Strategic Exposure to Equities

Vienna, Va. (PRWEB) March 19, 2008

FOLIOfn, the innovative online brokerage firm and provider of investment portfolios, launched two Low Volatility Folios last month, which have the goal of offering about half the volatility of the S&P 500, while still retaining strategic exposure to equities to boost long-term expected returns.

The “Low Volatility Folio” is comprised of a mixture of ETFs and individual stocks, while the “Low Volatility ETF Folio” is comprised entirely of ETFs. These Folios are built out of securities with a low correlation to one another and the broader market, and also feature screens on volatility.

During periods when the return of the S&P500 increases or decreases significantly, the return on these portfolios are designed to increase or decrease by smaller amounts. In other words, the lower volatility of these folios means that their maximum returns and losses in any given period are likely to be of a lower magnitude than those experienced by the S&P500. These portfolios may be attractive to medium and long-term investors who want a portfolio that does not track the market during periods of large market swings, but that can provide equity exposure with lower volatility than the broader market.

A white paper discussing the theory and construction of FOLIOfn’s Low Volatility Folios — written in an easy-to-understand and informative way — can be found at FOLIOfn’s website.

FOLIOfn (http://www.foliofn.com) was selected as “Best of the Web for Alternative Investing” by Forbes magazine. Its unique, patented Folio Investing offering enables investors to create their own Folios — much like creating a personalized ETF or mutual fund. Folios can afford significant tax advantages, ability to customize, transparency, and lower costs, while allowing for proper diversification. Investors can also choose from over 100 Ready-To-Go (RTG) Folios, representing different market indices, sectors, geographic locations and asset classes. In addition, investors can purchase investment vehicles such as mutual funds and ETFs cost-effectively. The FOLIOfn platform allows commission-free investing for a low monthly fee, as well as dollar-based and fractional share investing. Folios can be managed or unmanaged and are offered by FOLIO Investments, Inc. a registered broker dealer, and are not registered investment companies.
